Valentine’s Day at Freedom – Shirley and Malcolm

To mark Valentine’s Day in 2020, we’d like to share a story from a lovely couple living in one of our communities – Shirley and Malcolm.
“When I first met my husband 39 years ago, we talked a lot about our previous lives. He told me that after his first wife died, he took an AAPT coach trip from Adelaide to Darwin through the centre. Apparently all the people on the coach were couples, except for Delores, an American lady.
“After we had been dating for three months, it was February 14th, Valentine’s Day, and I had sent him two cards just to confuse him, anonymous of course. He rang me and asked if he could come to see me. Of course I said come to dinner.
“He ate all the dinner, every crumb, then said, “Oh, by the way, I won’t be seeing you for a month, as Delores is coming over from America so I would see how things go with her!”
“I was not impressed, in fact I yelled, “Get out and don’t come back.”
“He came back and Delores did not.”
Malcolm and Shirley have been together since and now live happily together with their furry friend at Freedom Banora Point. Congratulations Shirley and Malcolm! We wish you all the best this Valentine’s Day.
